The Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) partnered with Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) for “HER WORLD, HER RULES” campaign with the goal to increase girl’ participation in basketball by recruiting more players at school age through various activities.

The HER WORLD, HER RULES Uganda camp took place at Childcare Primary School in Kitgum, Uganda from the 23rd to 27th November 2021 and attracted about 150 girls. Of the age 6-15 years not participating in regulated basketball. The camp introduced the girls to basketball skills and in partnership with UNICEF, the UNICEF life skills toolkit was used to conduct life skills sessions. Training of Trainers courses were also conducted for basketball coaches and referees.

FUBA also partnered with Score Beyond Leadership Organisation to execute the project.

The project was an opportunity to use role models to models to disseminate the importance of hard work, discipline, teamwork and fair play, develop healthy lifestyles through basketball, inspire girls to play basketball while continuing their studies and empower girls and tackle problems such as gender inequality and discrimination.
