The U-16 national basketball team trials finally came to an end on Friday at the Lugogo Indoor arena as the technical team faced the task of selecting a roaster from hundreds of players that turned up.
Up to 150 players heeded the call on Monday, which FUBA made, and head coach Andrew Tendo says the process done throughout the week was exciting.
"The trials went well; we had about 150 kids who we sieved to 25, we had more sessions, and we picked out 15, who is the final selected team," Tendo noted.
Asked what the technical team has been concentrating on, Tendo revealed that the defensive rotation, court spacing on offence and good ball movement is what have been emphasizing.
"As the coaching staff, we've been emphasizing proper defensive rotation, court spacing on offence and good ball movement; we are positive the players will be ready," He added.
The U-16 national basketball team is expected to start preparations for the 2023 preliminaries of the FIBA Africa U-16 tournament.
The U-16 national basketball girls' team already qualified for the championship set to take place in Tunisia.
